Life Stinks

Unexpected things happen all the time. You don't trip going up the stairs. You have a good hair day. You only fail your math test by 21 points. The world is filled with surprises. Well my friends, my life, and the life of my roommates, is no exception. Last Monday was a prime example of this:

The day started out like normal. We all went our separate ways and didn't see each other until that night. Nothing too unexpected yet. Around 7:00 me and my roommate Kami decided to go for a walk since nothing else was getting done and our house holds the world record for being the most boring. It was a little on the not smart side just because it was a bajillion degrees below zero, but still nothing we couldn't handle.

Since we were nearly frozen to death when we got back we decided it would be a really good idea to warm our innards with some delightful hot chocolate so off we went to our bedrooms to rob our piggy banks for the change we needed.

When I walked into my room from the kitchen I caught a strange odor coming from somewhere. Could it be smoke?? Could fires start when it was absolute zero outside? I wasn't sure. That's when I decided to call on my faithful roommates to help me decipher the smells coming from somewhere in my room. I called in Janelle and Kami and asked if they smelled anything. They stepped barely inside the doorway and one said she smelled bacon while the other couldn't smell anything. Something was definitely wrong with their sniffers. So I did the only sensible thing I could and told them to come stand in the middle of the room where I was and asked them again if they could smell the non-identifiable odor.

That is when the unexpected happened. From somewhere deep inside my being there was a slight rumble and before I knew it a silent little breeze blew from my backside. What was I supposed to do?!? I knew my capabilities being a Baker and all and I feared for my roommates lives, or at least their nasal cavities. Before I could think of a good excuse for them not to come any closer they were standing next to me, noses crinkled. They finally smelled what they thought I was smelling before.

I did my best to hold in my fits of laughture and just let them think what they wanted. Janelle kept sniffing everything and finally turned her head toward my bathroom door and took a few wiffs before turning back to the center of the room where I was standing when the accident happened to sniff a few more times.

Needless to say we didn't stay around long to try and identify what was causing the stench and Kami and Janelle still don't know what really happened that fateful day and they will probably never will. Next time I'll make sure to be more careful.

Thought for the day

Lately I have noticed that I have become rather inactive in the blogging world and I am trying to change my ways. There's always something to share and while I'm just waiting for my homework to get done I might as well share it. I only have a few minutes today but I will share one of my insightful thoughts with you little peasants to brighten your day.
This week is homecoming here on the beautiful campus of Southern Utah University and for those of you who don't know what that means let me inform you. It means True T-Bird night is coming up. Enough said. I'm uber excited.
The end.

What is this this we call 'like'?

First off, I would like to take a minute to re-introduce myself since I have had a very extended absence. I Katie Dawn Baker am young, single, and smokin hott like the rest of my sisters (to bad no young, single, smokin hott men read this.) I'm back. Hallelujah!
I will now take a minute to enlighten you in a little situation I am having. As you all know, I deserve a boyfriend. A beautiful boyfriend. A beautiful boyfriend who brings me flowers and makes me dinner. It's not that there aren't any options down here because by-golly there are a lot, it's like I was fishing in a stream before and now it's like a small river. Very refreshing. Well in one of my classes there happens to be this boy. A cowboy/farm-boy. Not exactly what I was looking for, but definitely on the radar. Well after class he kept being sneaky and walking me home (cuz he parked close of course) and all kinds of crazy stuff. The particular day that the situation got quite exciting was Tuesday. We made popcorn balls together and later went up the canyon for a bon fire with his roommates and his brother and wife. Background: His roommates and him are the funniest people I have almost ever met (there could be exceptions) they laugh about everything! It is always exciting to hang out with them and by the time I go home I have a sore face and sore abs from laughing so much. Anyway so up the canyon we spent the whole time telling jokes and just goofing off. One of his roommates (Brady) kept scaring everyone trying to freak us out. Well one time I was standing next to Allen (mystery boy from class) and Brady tickled my ear, I flipped. I thought it was something scary and I jumped and grabbed onto Allen and screamed a little bit loud. That triggered something inside his puny little brain and they kept doing it because I kept getting scared and holding on to him. I didn't mean to it just happened. Well, Allen decided to become protector and put his arm around me to keep me safe. Well the rest is kind of history. We went and watched a movie with Brian (his other roommate) and his girlfriend and stuff like that. When he took me home, we accidentally turned our heads at the same time and went to speak which made our lips poke out a little bit and somehow they connected. Weirdest thing ever. I'm not exactly sure how it happened like that. Anyhow, that's where the situation comes into play. As much as I deserve a boyfriend I don't want one. It makes life to complicated and then all you can think about is that person and you never get anything done and you always want to spend time together and your not sure what to think because you like them a whole lot but your scared and you don't know why you like them so much you just know you do and your personalities somehow match even though your from completely different backgrounds and you love being with them because they make you laugh all the time but you don't know exactly what to make of everything and it just is crazy and complicated and exciting and scary and nerve racking and makes you shake when you think about it too much. And that is currently where I am at. Advice anyone?? Mom I know you're probably disappointed again cuz I'm not engaged and somehow found the lips of another on mine-but it wasn't me it was that other persons fault.

Sweet 16

This is my crazy, cool kid, baby sister! Yesterday was her sweet 16 birthday! Due to the passing of a loved one, I was unable to post about my amazing little sister! Let me tell ya, she's a sweet little thing!!!! So to celebrate, here are the top 16 things I love about Sarah!
  1. She loves to have fun!
  2. She doesn't take no for an answer!
  3. She's my friend.
  4. She's honest. While I was engaged to Jon she asked me one day, "Does Jonny drink coke?" I said, "yes" she asked, "well, does he drink whiskey?" I said, "no" she asked "does he smoke?" I said, "no" she said, "well, he does drink coke!"
  5. She loves volleyball, softball and golf. And she's good at all of them!
  6. She's funny.
  7. She always gets me to do CRAZY things, like put hair glitter on my eyelashes! Not really a great idea if you intend to keep your eyelashes!
  8. She's boy crazy!
  9. She knows how to make people smile!
  10. She's not afraid to tell you what she thinks!
  11. She has such a cute sense of humor! When she was little, Jonathan was eating a taco, she wanted a bite, so she asked for one. He said, "no, I'm sick, you don't want to get sick." Sarah sat for a minute and then she grabbed the taco, took a bite, and said, "better sick than dead!"
  12. She's a great Aunt to her nieces and nephews! They LOVE her!
  13. She loves to come to my house!
  14. Who else could I stay up with until the wee hours of the morning, making caramel popcorn and watching movies!
  15. Recently she took me to the playground at the elementary school. She put me in this cup shaped contraption and started spinning me! I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants and she almost peed her pants laughing at me!
  16. She's my baby sister! And I love her to pieces!

Sarah, I love you!

HAPPY SWEET 16!!!!!

Love Trina

I'm all alone!

Ok girls, listen up. This blog is called the Baker Babes (notice the plural) for a very important reason. I believe there are 5 of the baker babes but I really can't remember because the only one I recall is Sarah. I mean that babe writes everything she can but really she needs a little help here! Katie and Heidi I know you both have cameras therefore it is your responsibility to let me see what you're up to. Mandy you don't have a child and you have a husband to hold down the fort so you have absolutely no excuses! Trina I know you have your own but still none of us know how to change the back ground and all that so you still gotta stick with us. We will be excommunicated from the blogging world if you don't show some stuff.

Back to School

I understand that some of you wonderful people have a few years on ya and high school was way back when! Of course i'm sure you all remember the teachers that you mercilessly made fun of and the Hott boys that you never had the nerve to talk to, right??? I know you all secretly miss high school, but don't worry i'm totally there and I will let you in on all the great things that happen there. You will be sorry to hear that the powerful Mr. Durbin has retired. We were very devistated to hear this news and all we could do was pray that he would not be replaced by the horrible awful Mr. Rolly. Heavenly Father must have heard my own personal pleadings because Mr. Robins now romes the halls. He's a great guy i think. I don't think any of you got the amazing oppertunity of taking early morning seminary either. Well let me tell ya, there is no better way to strengthen your testimony of SACRIFICE for the Lord! Another nice class is choir only none of you old ones every had to have Mrs. Espline did you. It's painful enough watching her at church but when you actually hand her some real athority it gets a little freaky. I'm not saying that to be mean really. I'm not kidding she is so STUPID. Ya remember middle school where all the teachers treated you like you were 5 and made themselves look retarded in the process. Those teachers were chocolate cake and ice cream compared to this lady. I've never actually hated a teacher unless you count Mr. Rolly but Mrs. Espline is pretty close to being number one on my hate list and it's only the first day! Anyway hopeful I can find the sweet angel that I know is in me somewhere and just accept her for how she is. I will definalty work on it. You guys know Mr. Nelison right? Oh man he cracks me up I think that will be a fun class, and Flech is totally awesome. Most of my classes are ok but it will take a while to get back into the whole school thing! Anyway there you go guys a little taste of your golden years.

Change

We all know that change is hard, harder for some than for others. I'm one that struggles with it more than most I think. For example I can't even rearange my room without feeling sad because it won't be the same. Pathetic right. For this reason I am dreading next week. Everything will be different. Katie will leave and next thing we know she'll be engaged and then i will offically be alone! After everything we've done together it's so hard to except someone else that I don't even know. I don't know how to be the big sister, the fun one with all the great ideas and funny jokes. I don't think I can study all day and play table tennis for fun. I don't who I'm gonna cry my eyes out with when it's been a long week, or tell everything to. Certainly not a stranger. Who will make me laugh until every muscel in my body acks, who is gonna tell me to shutup cuz i sing like a goat? Who will sleep out with me and talk about how amazing the stars are and how God ever created what he did? Who will explain scriptures to me and beat me up all the time? Who can I talk boys to? Who are me and mom gonna make fun of all the time? Who's gonna call me lame names that make me smile? At girls camp a girl said exactly how I feel about katie in her testimony. This is what she said only i'm changing it to kaite. "I want you all to know that it's ok that you called me Kaite and got us mixed up because it's a great compliment to me when you call me by her name." I'm gonna miss her so much. Thanks for everything Kate! I'll try so hard to be like you to Margarita I know if I do that we will be great friends. Good luck at collage!!!

Reviving the Chicks

Read the post after this one first!

These are the pictures of the reviving process, I'm not sure why the random pictures of Me Mom and Sarah or Hannah Me and Sarah are with them though.

Calling Father Goose!! Emergency!!!

10 minutes.
Freezing water.
Stage 4 hypothermia.
CPR.
11 poor helpless creatures.
A mother's tears.
All of this can only add up to one thing. A near death experience for 11 of the newest members of our family. Lets go back to the beginning.
Exactly 8 days ago, my mom became a new mother, minus the nine month agonizing period of time with a bloated stomach. How is this possible you may ask?? She is a mother hen without feathers. Our chicks hatched. Happy day, they have been a blessing right from the start and we have been so tickled that they were sent to our home. Since the time of their arrival they have been dwelling in our kitchen in a box, however yesterday my parents took a trip to the dump to drop off some junk and they came home with some more. Aka, a chicken cage, and the chicks were introduced to their permanent home, the great outdoors. This is where the tragedy begins.
The day started out like normal, me and Sarah slept outside under the stars and Mom came and woke us up so she could turn on the sprinklers. We went inside, moseyed about for about a half an hour when Mom jumped up and started yelling something about sprinklers, chicks, and ten minutes. She was nearly in tears when we were finally able to comprehend. The baby chicks were out on the lawn, at the mercy of the relentless sprinklers.
When we ran out we were horrified to find that they were soaked to the bone, shivering balls of meat laying in a deformed pile!! They were all mostly dead, at most only 3% alive, and we had little hope of reviving any of them. We pulled out lamps, blow dryers, and towels to begin the process of resurrection for these helpless little babes. Picking up the chicks out of the cage there were many we wondered if they were even a little alive, but not having time to worry we began the life saving technique of CPR. Sarah started CPR, passed it to me and I wiped it with a towel, and passed in down to Mom who was blow drying her little heart out why trying to see through a river of tears. Now, nearly two hours later, the deformed pile of wet feathers has transformed to fluffy clean little chicks again. We asked Mom how she felt about the whole thing and all she could say was, "Heavenly Father maded them feel better."

The House Makeover!!!

Well ladies (and Jonny) it's been a long couple of weeks if ya know what i mean. Fixing up the house hasn't exactly been my favorite activity but there have been some serious bonding moments. So far Dad needs to get fixed........ his neck. Mom needs a new latter. Katie needs more popcycles, and my singing is rapidly improving. Yes it's true Dad really said that, laying on mom's lap with a grown. AHH we're still laughing about that one. The latter thing was a total accident ok. I was on the big cabnet thing painting and when i started to get down something happened and I fell and hit the latter on the way down. The first thing mom said was "You broke my latter!" Apparently she already knows that I am her strongest child because obviously she wasn't worried about me, just her latter. I mean I didn't even get an "Are you ok?" All I could do was stare at her in shock, then finally i squeaked out " The latter?" Mom " Ya you broke it!" So as you can see I now owe mom a new latter. During this hard time in our house fixing days there is one thing that we ALWAYS have in our freezer. Popcycles! That's right and we go through probably a bag every two days. Usually Katie gets one first or me and then the rest of us follow and get one. Then she'll get another one so we get another one too. So now our freezer is running quite low and we definetly need some more! Well if you thought my voice was amazing before.... you should hear me now. Mom, Dad, and Katie just can't seem to get enough of my beautiful master pieces. Last week Katie told me I sang like a goat. It was a very motivational piece of information. I took a step up and now she says I sing like a bird. So if you ever need help with sacrament meeting or a talent show... I'm here for you!! well i wish i could stay and chat but sadly there is work to be done! (Katie's still in bed) Stay cool young ones!!!

Boys, Bikers, and Babes

I would like to inform everyone that I have been promoted. Instead of the white black girl who has been a slave to everyone since approximately March 27th, I have now moved up to the position of Slave-Master. I have willingly sacrificed myself for the better good, namely: Sarah. I am now in the position to become corrupted by the influence of power so that she can stay humble and meek like she needs to. In other words, she has my job. The poor unfortunate soul. Well, as a high and mighty server, I now get to entertain the guests. Lucky me. In the two nights I have worked it has actually been very eventful, and has quite exceeded my expectations in that way. On Monday night, I was nervous to say the least. Everyone had told me their horror stories about the hand held computers we now use instead of doing everything by hand. From charging people the wrong ticket to having them freeze and not being able to use them at all I was expecting the worst. The other girl who recently got promoted went home crying like crazy her first night, and she never cries. Well, thankfully my parents taught me to rely on someone bigger then me that can solve any problem big or small. Before work I prayed my heart out and went to face the wolves. My first table was the Mickelson's. That's right, the ninny's come out to their restaurant and make us wait on them, which is totally awkward and annoying. But besides that, so far so good. One after another, my tables would come in, eat, and leave happy. It was a miracle. I didn't have any problems the whole night. Everything went smooth as butter. There was a table of five boys that came in that the other server took care of. I just ignored them mainly because their server is quite annoying but also because I had my own tables to take care of. Well, as I was walking by, they called me over to talk to me. I went over and talked for a few minutes and left, no biggie. When they left however, their server and another worker came running back to find me because low and behold, they left me their number :) woot woot!! I don't think their waitress was very happy that her table left me their number, but what can I say :). Other then that, the night was fairly normal. Then last night. Wow, where to begin.... My very first table was two hard core bikers who were probably in their early fifties. They raced cars and rode Harlies and were probably the ones who started the stereotype for bikers. Their arms were completely tattooed and they had the big chest and arms that would cause you to go to the emergency room if you accidentally ran into them, built like a rock, well probably boulder. Anyway, they came in and started showing me these pictures of their sons and saying all these weird things about how we would make such a cute couple and we could live in their house and ride their motorcycles, and all sorts of strange things. It was actually really funny when the one guy pulled out the picture of his sons because he was showing me the picture of the older one but there was someone else in the picture with him. She had long naturally curly hair, and looked a little young for him, but it was my only chance. When he said he would send his son down, I said the first thing I could. "He already has a girl though." Oops. In these days you actually can't say that, because in fact, there are boys with long curly hair too. It was his other son. My bad!! I felt stupid but didn't really care because they were so happy to be there they just thought it was funny. Well, they kept going on and on and on and on and wanted to send a picture to the son, and wanted me to take a picture with their race car but luckily, their phone died! Hallelujah!!! The next two hours were spent listening to them decide which actress I looked like, what their next motorcycle trip was, and watching people get attacked by the birds outside in the front trees. It was very interesting. They did leave a good tip though, which was great. It made for an exciting night, and I'm excited to see what tonight brings. Who knows, maybe this time I'll meet prince charming for reals.

Simply Summer

I know you are all having withdrawals from not hearing from me in so long. Well I am truly sorry. The last two weeks have been a little crazy. I had pagent last week and the week before and I am so sick of sampete!!! However I did have an awesome time! I got to see my Grandparents just about everyday and I always had a cousin around to keep me entertained. I ate at millers a ton and never had to do anything to challenging. Being in the pagent got a little stressful at times but I loved it. Thanks aunt Laurie and my new sisters and everyone else you all rock! So in the middle of pagent I went to youth conference. I really didn't want to but I'm glad I did it was so fun! My leaders are totally cool kids! Spending time with them was so fun because they are so much like us! They did everything we did and even came up with some crazy ideas themselves. Miss Lisa is our little giggler! We had a very interesting testimony meeting and she laughed through most of it and the rest of us tried not to (including the bishopric) you think I'm kidding but really one kid stood up three times! For like 10 minutes each time! And the last time he told us he wanted to give us all a hug. That's when all of our heads shot up and we looked at each other in horror! Then another girl broke down in tears and when she could finally speak she told us that it was really hard when she found out her dog had cancer and that it was like a sister to her. (The dog that died like a year ago.)It was an incredibly sad story I tell you. Lisa also came up with our amazing syncronized swimming rutine that was insane! We should have got a metal. Jessica is the gossip girl, she makes fun of the weird ones in our word with us! She also trained me to be a certified leader so pretty much I can do whatever I want. Then we have Amber who is just the crazy awesome spontanious one. She did all these crazy things off the high dive and broke all the rules at the pool. But we learned to be sneaky. They wouldn't let us go down the slide head first so we did it anyway and right before we got to the end we turned around! haha the life guards were clueless! Then we had Darren Clark and he was hilarious we recored some of the things he did and they are inspirational! So those are the cool leaders all the others have to keep us in line so we don't hurt ourselves. Anyway after the pool we went to the Heber valley girls camp. We spent the night there and in the morning we did a rope course and went to the lake. Now we were not supposto get in the lake however some young men couldn't resist tipping our boat over. Bianca spashed them and then we new it was the end of us. They sandwitched us and then Landon jumped out of his boat and graved ours and there we went me, Kaite, and Biana tennis shoes, jeans, and the whole bit. The lake people were very upset with us and they made everyone get off the lake but we had a nice swim and we all lived! It was super fun! Now I just have to live through girls camp!!!

Father's Day...

It all started out with the best of intentions, and then it turned into a father's day flop. So let me explain myself. It was my first Father's day with Kevin, so of course I wanted to do something really special. The instructions he gave me were something like this: I don't want you to spend any money on me, it would be more meaningful to me if you would just do something for me. I thought to myself okay, sure that won't be too difficult. As Father's day got closer and closer I still didn't know what I would do for him that would be super awesome. So by friday I still had not come up with anything. I talked to Heidi and asked her if she had any ideas. She had what I thought at the time was a great idea. She suggested that I give him a back massage. I thought great! I can do that and he would love it! So I decided that I would give him a back massage on Saturday night instead of on Sunday. So Saturday night I told Kevin that part of his Father's day had to be done that night. In preparation I sent Kevin to our living room and proceeded to set up our room as a spa. I made the bed, put in the classical music and lit the candles. (Yes this is where the flop comes in.) I left my room to get Kevin from the living room. I made him close his eyes and I led him to our room. I reached behind me and grabed for the door handle, to my utter discust I had locked both Kevin and I out of our room. I frantically turned to the door and started pounding on it... yelling "oh no! There are burning candles in there!" Realizing that no one was in my room to open the door, I stopped my pounding and turned around to face my husband, who was trying to calm me down and figure out a way to open the door. Luckily his wallet was in the living room and he was able to open our door with a credit card. I'm sure you will be happy to hear that my house did not burn down. But this did not end Father's day. The next day in my desperate attempt to do something special for Kevin without spending money was continued. He got up and went to shower and while he was in there I fixed him breakfast. It was not going well. I thought I would fix him a breakfast burrito , bacon, strawberries and orange juice. When I got done with the burrito and set it on the plate, it looked like a little kid had already started eating it. The shell was all broken up and falling apart-it was horrible. The bacon was so black I refused to eat it myself, and needless to say I didn't. I watched him eat his breakfast, of course he didn't say a word, he thanked me graciously. Needless to say I ate cereal. I wish that were the end, and that nothing else went wrong, but sadly there is more. So for church we decided that we would all make cookies and after Relief Society we would combine all of our cookies and take each of our husbands a plate. So I wanted it to be a surprise. I made candy to take to church. I didn't tell him what it was for. I make a perfect plan so he wouldn't even know I left the church to go home and get my treat. I left my window rolled down so i could reach in and open the door. I make sure there was a spare key in the car. Sunday School finally ended and I told the lady next to me that I was going to run home and get my treat. My plan was working out great. I got in my car and raced to my house, Kevin would never know I was gone. I ran up the stairs in my high heel shoes and finally arrived at my door. It was locked. Of course it was locked! We always lock the door! I had not planned as well as I thought I had. I ran down the stairs and to my apartment manager's house hoping they had sluffed the last meeting to go home and eat. They hadn't. My wonderful plan was failing. As I slowly went up the stairs again hoping that by some miracle my door had magically been opened, it was not. Then in fustration I turned around and lo and behold I saw the number 2. Yes that was my solution. Apartment number 2. My dear sweet sister Heidi lives in number 2. To my great relief they answered to my pounding. I told them of my plan and told them I was locked out. Jason being the awesome person that he is used his credit card to open my door. I finally left my house about a half an hour later. I got back to the church and parked in almost the same place. Even though I had missed half of the meeting Kevin would still not even know I had been gone. I walked into the Relief Society room. They were just starting the lesson. I was confused. While I was gone they had decided to give the cookies to their husbands at the first of the meeting!! Oh yes, I felt like the biggest idiot in the whole world. I set my treat down, and almost started to cry as i listened to the words of the lesson. The whole rest of the meeting all I could think about was my poor husband sitting in Priesthood and having all the other wives bring them cookies, and him just sitting there. I felt like a jerk. He had no idea where I was. So again I had blown it. The lady I told I was going to get my treat thankfully made a plate for Kevin, and told him I went home to get cookies. He said we don't have cookies. Ahh and no one is to blame but me. In my attempt to make it the best Father's day ever, it ended in almost the worst. So ladies when your husband says "oh its okay don't buy me anything for Father's day," don't listen! Just do it! I'm sure he will forgive you for spending a little money! And to you Kevin, I really do love you.

Stood Up and Stepping Down

Well, I have purposely been avoiding my blog for many weeks now because I have so much to catch up on and I know it will take forever, stupidest excuse ever right? Well, sadly it's the only excuse I have. The last time I updated was before I became an old woman and joined the alumni of Juab High. The week of graduation was crazy busy and I don't know how I survived without the helpful boost of a little something I like to call caffeine (I know, I'm evil, you don't have to tell me everyone else already has.) But I'll update on that later. The purpose of this blog is to make you all feel pity for me and for everyone to try and find me a man. I am no longer looking due to the fact that I seem to scare boys like the plague. In the past three weeks I was scheduled for three dates. Fabulous. I love going on dates, young men happen to be one of my favorite things, along with whiskers on kittens and brown paper packages tied up with strings. The first date was with a young fellow named Ryan. Beautiful and rich, I was thrilled. However, I was informed the night before the date that he was going out of town with his family rather then spend time with me! Ridiculous. Date number two was with Danny boy. It was short notice but with my lame life, I squeezed it in my schedule. Well, once again, the night before I was told I was dateless again! He was going to hang out with his mom instead, no joke. He's a teenager, and teenage boys do not hang out with their moms!!! But I'm a forgiving person and let it go. This weeks contestant was Danny again, why I don't know, I guess it didn't hit me that he stood me up once, it's likely he'll do it again. And Walla! HE DID!!! Only this time, I wasn't informed the night before, I was informed 10 minutes before I was supposed to be there. Therefore, I am still single, lonely, and heartbroke. I should put an add it the newspaper, thats what my dad tells me, and it might be a good idea. If any of you have brothers, friends, ex-boyfriends, give me a call, I'm available!!!

1950 and Beyond

Last night I was able to go to pagent and there at our cast meeting was the one and only L. Tom Perry. That's right folks it was amazing! And I Sarah Ann walked right up to that young man and I looked him in the eyes and I shook his hand. He has a good strong grip too I thought my hand might fall off but it was awesome! Then I went to do my scenes and it was so cool because it was windy so we all looked totally awesome and then Jesus came and ahh i don't know it was just really cool. After that I went to Grandma and Grandpa's house and Grandpa read me his patriarcle blessing that he got in 1950 and he told me some really amazing stories about his life. He said he always tried to live up to his blessing and as he read it he would stop and say "And that's come true" and he would tell me all the people that he has been able to help and the people at the temple that told him he was the best example they had. Of course he told me about tree toping experiences but he told me some new ones and how the spirt lets him now what he needs to do to get the trees in the right place. He said he has never had a burning in his busom but it's always a quiet peacful feeling when somthing is right. It was so amazing to look at Grandpa's blessing and his life and to see the way that they matched up. Grandpa also told me about some of his war experiences. And the sargent guy could always count on him to do what ever he asked him to do without a word he would just do what he had to do. And I didn't know Grandpa had his hand while he was in the army cuz everyone always told me he lost it when he was 17 or 18 but Grandpa cleared this up for me real nice like. If you have never heard the story of how Grandpa lost his hand from grandpa, then you don't really know the story. It's really a pretty grusome story. 9 days after he got home from war he was picking corn with the corn picker and got his hand in there he was 23. He never screamed for yelled he just gritted his teeth and held on because it didn't break it he just had to rip it off. He gave me a visual of all the tendends hanging off and all the nasty stringy stuff but I won't go into that for you nice people. Anyway he just held it tight with his other hand and he was holdin it so tight it wasn't bleeding and so he walked over to a neghbors house and the lady made him lay down until her son got the car and took him to the hospital. It was only cut off right ubove his thumb but they had to take it ubove the rist and when everyone came to see him he was happy and cheerful and joking around with everyone. His mom asked him if it just took it right off or what and he said ya it's still in the corn picker if ya wanna see it. But from the minute it happened he just took it and delt with it. He said the first thing that came to his mind was how am i ever going to play the gitar again but his dad gave him a blessing and told him that he would be able to do all those things that he desired to do and he was able to. It was so cool to hear all his stories just me and him and Grandma and Hannah talking and listening to his stories!

Making Memories!

Today I got to spend a few hours with my amazing Grandma. She showed me her flowers and what they were called and we moved little chicks to a chicken house. Then I had some of her home made bread and I watched as she took care of Grandpa. It's amazing to me all the things she does without one word of complaint. When I look at her I see so much of my Mom in her and I'm so grateful for both of their examples to me. I also got to talk with Grandpa for a little while. It was so good to just be with them.
I also got to visit with some anuts and uncles. We had a sleep over party on wednesday so I got to see Irene and Bill and Lynn and Lorie and Julie and Vergil. It was so fun! It's awesome to see all the different personalities of everyone. Lorie was a crack up the whole time it was a blast to hang out with her. Everyone was really fun and it was so cool to be there.
Oh and you should all know that I am famous and you should all come see me in the Manti pagent because I am the star of the show and I get to shake Moroni's hand which basicly makes me the most awesome person ever! And there's this really really hott guy named Ryan that I met and I'm gonna marry only not really cuz my marrage list is getting kinda long so he can just be on the dating list. Robert is the witch doctor which is totally awesome too! Seriously tho come see me I will even sign my autograph and everything.
Also I got a job. Weird right. I'm really kinda of freakin out, just the fact that I'm old enough to have a job and now I can't do whatever I want when ever I want which is quite tragic really. So I guess that means all of you will have to come here to see my beautiful face!
I'm excited for the family reunion it's gonna be rockin! So until then stay cool young ones!

Weirdo Weather

It's June 10th and it's cloudy and chilly outside. Do you see a problem there? To me there are red flags going up everywhere. I haven't seen the sun yet this summer and it's rather dipressing. I mostly stay inside for fear of catching a cold outside. Even as we speak I have a hot warming bag thing on my lap and a jacket on because I'm freezing. I don't really know what all this means but I'm tellin ya something weird's goin on around here. Has the end of the world finally come or is this just the begining of another ice age? All I know is it's June not January get it right Jack Frost this is rediculous!

Conection to the World!

This post is dedicated to Trina! This is a lot harder than it may seem because my hands hurt very much dear sister. It's actually been kind of a rough day all together. First off we went shopping and it was all good until we got in the car and it wouldn't start. Therefore we enjoyed staring at the beautiful gray wall on the back side of Dillards for an hour or two. Finally we were rescued by our faithful father and brought home. However that wasn't the end of my tragic day. I spent the next two ours being draged around by an out of control airador. Of course I haven't ever used one of those things and now I understand why. They are insane! My advice is don't use one without a man supervising. I know that may seem a little out of wack considering we do much of the yard work without their help but really wow. On second thought a man most likely won't do you any good. My man "my dad" just watched as I was helplessly wipped back and forth across the lawn. My anger was the only way I was able to keep the thing under control, but finally I was done. My hands were killing me and I was ready to go home. So I triumpantly walked over to my Dad to tell him I was done. Haha nice try. Know what he said to me? "Go over it again!" Yes it was a blow to my heart, but in a hurry to make my dad proud I went over it again as painful as it was. But after forever and a half he took me home. It was a great day.
Then yesterday we drove all over the state (all most) visiting family. We met Camron's soon to be wife and inspected Jon's red head baby and his house too. It was fun. Lindsay is really nice but the whole idea of Camron getting married is still quiet strange to me but I am very happy for them both. Landen is very cute his hair is super long and red! All their kids love him to death and Issac is so proud that he has red hair just like him.
We also went to Salina on saturday and visited Grandma and Grandpa. It felt so different without Grandma and her house just isn't the same but it's awesome to know where they are.
We went to Manti too. Things are pretty good there. Everyone is making bets on how long it will be before Steph gets married. I guess they are pretty serious. Grandma and Grandpa Bishop our a little stressed I think. Things are kinda hard for them right now so remember to pray for them. Other than that things are pretty good. Katie graduates in a few days and I'll be going to hurricane for a week. :) YES! Mom is busy with the garden and Dad is busy with work and this yard he has to fix up. This summer is so busy it feels like it's over and it hasn't even started yet but that's ok it's cool that so many things are happening I guess. Well tink i think that's about all the news so you are now up to date on the world of the fam. :)

The meanig of life???

Well I am finally done with end of year testing! Good news right? Well unfortunately my teachers can't just leave it at that. " End of year test, good job, lets party" Nope not this year. My English teacher had to make things complicated with one simple question. What is the meaning of life? Of course all of us Mormons no the answer to this question, "To live right so we can live with our family and Jesus again." TA DU! But considering the fact that she is not of such a faith she wants "deeper" She wants us to THINK. Is she kidding? "Think" is no longer in our vocabulary. We are done with what's important and two weeks of busy work just doesn't sit well with us. Each day as I enter the dreaded English classroom I listen intently to yet another heated discusion about "The Meaning Of Life". My teacher showed us the scientific answer to the question. It just so happened to be "42". Yes that's right 42. Why 42? Because 5 times 9 is 42. Scientists like to prove things right? Well if my calculations are correct that right there proves just how screwed up and retarded scientists really are. Besides that fact that 5 times 9 is 45, the answer makes no sense to any one including the ones who came up with it. So you see this is a very big problem. The teacher will not accept the simple, correct, logical answer but the students will not accept the scientific, illogical, stupid answer. Therefore this will most likely continue on for the rest of the year and perhaps a little into the summer. If you have any ideas please share unless you are a scientist. In that case please keep your desperate attempts to become smart or famous to yourself.

10 Days, 240 Hours, 14,400 Minutes, 864,000 Seconds (and counting)

Freedom awaits. Flip flops, tank tops, and swimming suits are calling to us. School, like the rest of the world, is in its last days. The end is nigh at hand and summer is lurking just around the corner. Nothing is worse then waking up to the beautiful song of a crow and having to ignore the lovely creature to spend the day inside staring blankly at the back of Myra Mains puffy head of hair.

Today was Stake Conference. What a wonderful experience. I so wanted to hear the whole thing, but unfortunately as soon as it started, I was hit with the sudden urge to use the facilities. I ran as fast as I could, and made it back for the sustainings, but all the running left me breatheless and in need of a drink. Not realizing how thristy I was, it took a lot of time, and I missed the first speaker. Then, Sarah kept talking to herself about hunger pains, and allergies, and wouldn't stop comparing her small muscels to my rather developed muscels. It was rather distracting, and when I kindly asked her to stop, my own mother gave me the angry eye. Before I knew it the meeting was over and we spent the next hour trying to drag our parents out of the building (unsuccessfully, we walked home.)

On a side note, my eyebrows are bigger than Mitch and Stephanie Farr's bushes and are in desperate need of attention before seminary graduation tonight.

The True Meaning of BROKE

Finding a penny on the side of the road is not something taken lightly any more. Pennies are my main sourse of income. I take a walk every night in search of such treasures. Upon finding one I lovingly pick it up and look at it tenderly with a slight sting of anger I wonder who would so carelessly leave such a valuble lying there. I save for weeks just so I can by a cookie at lunch. I have no more candy stashed in my pockets, backpack, or bedroom. I haven't been shopping for 6 months. I haven't put on deoderent for almost 2, can't pay. I haven't brushed my teeth for 3 because I can't afford toothpast and my toothbrush has no brush left (I follow Brett's motto for brushing my teeth "You're never done brushing til you're bleeding.) and I don't have money for a new one. I use to be able to scrounge up a dollar or two. Those days are long gone, now I'm lucky if I can find a pennies. Of course money is not everything but you need money for everything. I think I will just steel a new toothbrush and toothpast and then go to jail. At least you don't need money there.

Blood Suckers!

Remeber that job at the hospital Mom wanted me to apply for and I didn't really want to because I didn't think I could clean up blood or throw up etc... well last night my fear was confirmed. As you know Mom had to get a little blood to sustain her poor body. I told her she would make a great vampire because they have no blood and that's close enough to what she had, but she still refuses to watch Twilight. SAD but anyway, as I was sitting there they started getting out their needles and I started shaking a little bit (wow even telling you about it makes me shake) but then they jabbed the ginormous thing into her, they didn't even ask me if I wanted to leave the room which I certanly did. But no they just stabbed her and she jumped and a little, then they stuck it in even farther I could see the needle in her vain. It was bleeding ever where and I almost died. Then as if that wasn't enough they took her blood. I watched helplessly as they sucked the presious blood she had left from her body. And that's when I knew I would never ever again even think about the possiblity of the medical field. YUCK!!! Anyway Mom is doing a lot better even after the first unit of blood she was already feeling a ton better thank goodness too because she looks so out of place in a hospital bed. It's good to see her back to her old self again. Thanks for your prayers! She loves you guys and she says she's not going to be vampire when she grows up but she might just change her mind when she's see the movie I'm gonna make her watch it tonight so we'll see.

Secret hospitality

Ok so I went to the state softball games today. It was great we killed em 20 to 5 in 4 innings so they will play agian at 4:00 and go from there but anyway.... Katie and I were singing our hearts out on the way home, driving 80, hands out the window all that good stuff right? So we drove past the hospital and noticed our van was there, we thougt nothing of it because we knew that Mom had an appointment today. So we came home and about 10 minutes later Dad calls and tells us Mom had sergury and now she's resting! WOW! Thanks for leting us know family. I felt bad that we were out having a great care free time and our Mother was in the hospital! Sorry Mom we love you! I'm sure if we didn't even know that all of you didn't know so this is just to let you know, Mom had sergury, she's doing good I think we will go see here in a bit and let you know what we find out.

Alone in the World

Ok so as you all know already I want summer. I crave it like candy. I don't think I have ever wanted summer more in my entire life. Not that high school is that extremely terrible, it's just that it has been a very long year and after putting up with so much crap for so long I want to be done. This is horrible. I'm only a freshman and senioritous has already started to set in. WHY? Well you may think this post is just another of my terribly long and painful complaning statements. Well I guess in a way it is but it's for good reason. This post is to tell you what I'm not looking forward to this summer. ah ha got ya there! What's not to like about summer you ask? Only one thing. Katie is leaving me. I dread that day with every fiber of my being. My best friend is leaving to college, leaving me behind to fend for myself in a high school of cruel retarded people that don't care about any thing but themselves. Leaving me to keep myself entertained for the summer. The late nights of talking and laughing so loud that we wake up our parents will be gone. I will go to bed on time with nothing to stay up for. I will be stuck in young womens with little behives that drive me crazy with no escape. No one to roll my eyes at the exact same moment with. I will drive around by myself (in september)without Katie to keep a smile on my face. I will have to bare the emotional crying days without her. Days that we simply looked at each other with tears in our eyes, laughing and saying here we go again didn't we just do this last week. I will have no one to listen to music with. I will have to sing my heart out and practice interprative dancing for amarican idol solo. I will have no one to do Polloties with. I will have no one to go get ice cream with when I've had a bad day. I will have no human punching bag and I won't get beat up any more. My skin will be peach instead of black and blue. I will miss getting a deadly slap on the back side while I'm doing my laundry. Haha NOT. I hate that. Anyway this sounds a little like what I wrote for my grandma. I know you aren't dead Katie but I really will miss you. It's going to be so hard without you here. It already is when you go to work or out with your friends. But as long as you come home at least once a year I think I'll be ok. :)

Spectacular Creations

Sarah and I were trying to entertain ourselves, so we would pick a topic and we both had to draw something about it. We couldn't look at what the other person was doing, and this is what we came up with.
The first ones are of our horses. I drew Dakota the Donkey and Sarah drew Ceaser.

These are our trusty rusty cars. Sarah drew the van, and mine was a drawing of my dead car.

These fabulous portraits are of our furure boyfriends. Sarah's is the top, and mine is below, and just in case your wondering, mine is not Mexican, he's just really tan.

Us golfing. We're really good. Sarah's is the top one.

This happens to be us tanning. Sarah's got cut in half when we scanned it in but that is us, I'm not sure if we're naked or if we just have tan clothes. As for my red neck... I'm not sure if the pun was intended or not.

We have abs, not ripples of fat, FYI.

Now can you see why we were accepted to Harvard??

FIRE!

Everyone has at least one ridiculous fear that they just can't seem to overcome. For some people its heights, others its germs, but for me... Spiders take the cake. They have got to be the most disgusting, creepy, scary thing I have ever been afraid of, and let me tell you, deep down I'm a pansy. Things scare me. Lots of things. Moving on. I hope to someday be able to not scream when I see the creepy little things and not be afraid to go in the same area after it's been removed because of a fear of the pregnant spiders having millions of little creepy babies. I saw one smashed once and it had a sack on it's back and babies literally exploded from that disgusting thing and covered the ground, repopulating the world in just one second. I've never been the same since. The other day at work I went in the back closet to get some things to restock the kitchen and when I turned around there was the biggest nastiest black spider I have ever seen for a while. I ran out screaming and jumping around and now people out there can't stop themselves from making fun of me. It's really quite mean of them but it seems to bring them great joy.
Last night I decided to take a long hot bath to soak away my stress and I was enjoying it thoroughly when I decided to shave my legs. I love that feeling when they're all soft and smooth. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world, and I hear it's kind of like having a baby- minus the pain, just the overwhelming satisfaction and you can't help but stare at them (babies too). Well during this invigorating experience I looked up and started screaming. It was the most nasty sick spider ever and it was less then two feet away from me. It was traumatizing! Well I started yelling for help and screaming "SPIDER!!!" When I heard someone running through the house on their way to my rescue, which really suprised me because normally they just ignore me and tell me to take care of the problem. Well, my rescuer happened to be my mom which really shocked me. It sounded like she was trying to tear through the door and she about took it off the hinges, I had locked it, naturally. What a woman! When her child was in need, nothing would stop her, no matter how ridiculous she thought it was. She finally got the door unlocked (in record time) and I was still yelling "GET IT OUT!" When she came in she looked around, and the anxiety left her face. I was a little confused since the spider was still there. Thats when she asked what was wrong. When I told her it was a spider I thought she was going to drowned me! She couldn't believe it, although I had been yelling it from the start. She thought I had been yelling "FIRE, GET IT OUT!" and her motherly insticts had kicked in on high alert. I was a little disappointed to find out she probably wouldn't have cared if she knew what it really was, but she did get the spider out and all was well, after she checked for more and made sure the proximity was safe with no baby spiders around. Thanks mom, you're the best!

Brain Dead

There comes a point in the school year when the mind has simply had enough and all signs of brain power are lost. You might as well be a vegtable sitting there staring the way you do in class wondering what language the teacher is speaking. Your reaction time is slow and your words come out slurred and unrecognizable. Tiredness overcomes the body and getting out of bed is like scrapping smeared road kill off the side of the road and trying to revive it. Doing your hair feels like a hopeless cause and socks feel like a thousand pounds on your feet. What was once your vibrant beautiful face 2 months ago is turned to rage and uglyness. Your eyes droop and a smile takes to much of your precious energy. Your sweet voice and eligant stride turns to a sort of barking with an arched back and a head hung low. You feel a wheel chair is the only possible way to keep moving but you don't have one so you simply crawl up the stairs and then fall back down them in the process of getting where you are going. The days drag on with no signs of speeding up. Everything feels like it's floating by in slow motion and each class seems 4 days long. Remembering what you learned is impossible and every cell in your brain and every muscle in your body screams "NO" when you even think the word homework. The entire school part of you brain and body is almost completely turned off, yet you still have 25 more days to go. How will you ever do it? Is it possible? Is it logical? Is it healthy? All you can think about is shorts, flip flops, and a boy that awaits you this summer. Excitment is a constant part of your thoughts but 25 days seems like an eternity when time seems to be standing still. Will this torture ever end? I couldn't tell you for my poor brain is DEAD!

Reality Check

Tonight was the beginning of my last banquet's before graduation. I thought I was so ready for this...but wow!! Slow down! How come this morning 21 days seemed like an eternity and now it seems like everything just kicked into fast forward? I guess you can all say 'I told you so.' It was great though, we had this little half of a sandwich and some cake that was supposed to hold us over for another two hours and then they tricked us into staying longer and read us all of these mushy poems and made us hold our mom's hands so that we would all start sobbing uncontrollably and send us on a major guilt trip for being such horrible children and not realizing how great our mom's really are all along. All I have to say is it worked, for me anyway. I think Mom was just poking her eyes so she didn't make me feel bad but thats ok. Mom, I just want to say thanks for everything! I love you so much and I'm so grateful for everything you do for me. You're the greatest! Dad informed me the other day that I give you guys a complex- my sincerest apologies! You can just hide me under the bed if you want! (but not really) Dad I love you too! I'm greatful for everything you've sacrificed for me and I'm sorry that I never tell you how much I love you. You're the best parents anyone could ever ask for!

Todays lesson taught by... El Buick

Well since it was so beautiful today and I didn't want to stay inside I decided to wash my car. Here is what I learned from it, and I hope you all learn from my mistakes.
Top 10 Tips for washing a car:

1. Never wear white shorts. No matter what. If you think you're car looks clean, it's not. Even when it's clean it's dirty. White shorts is a bad idea.

2. If you do wear white shorts and happen to lean against your dirty wet car-creating a plethera of mud on yourself, quickly take them off and get the spot out.

3. When looking for the spot remover spray, always clear away other cleaners because when they get bumped they fall on your head.

4. Make sure you're outside water is turned on or you will have to carry all of the water from the bathroom to the car in ice cream buckets.

5. Never wash your car alone. You will have to run to the bathroom to get rinse water every two minutes instead of sending your little sister and by the time you get back to the car the soapy water will have evaporated therefore making it impossible to get the streaks out and you will have to start over.

6. Never park under a blossoming tree. When wet, the blossem petals stick to the car and make it like a tattoo, nearly impossible to get off, and if it does come off, there is still a trace of where it was.

7. Forget washing the windows, they just look worse if you try to clean them.

8. Don't wash the top of the car. As soon as you do birds think its hilarious to relieve themselves right as you finish.

9. Streaks never come off. No matter how hard you try. You might as well give up and save some energy from running from the bathroom to the car again and again.

10. It is usually worth it to fork out the dough and just go to an automatic car wash. Then it's not your fault if it still looks terrible, which it usually doesn't if you go there first.

Se-Se-Se-Seventy Seven!

China is finally cold!! Do you know what that means?? THE WEATHER IS AWESOME IN NEPHI UTAH!!! Can I get a woot woot?? WOOT WOOT!!!! Bring out the flip flops! It was 77 degrees today!! I can tell this is going to be a wonderful summer. I already have an amazing flip flop tan line that everyone is jealous of. I've had people take pictures and I've had to autograph them. It's like they've never seen good lookin feet before or something. Also on the list of good news, I only have 23 days of school left until I kiss my high school days goodbye, sad of course but also the most looked forward to day of my life. The scary part is that I have to be grown up and stuff now, how lame is that! Most old people are boring...That is, until now! I will be a legal adult in 3 months, which will mean no more getting caught. That shouldn't be a problem since I am sneaky-like the woods. Well, the sun is still up so I need to go soak up some more rays. Catch ya later!!

Child Prodigies

Sarah and I have been recruited by Harvard in the art institution for our amazing talent as artists. We will be leaving in two months where after we will never see you again because we will become rich and famous and too good for the likes of you. We are working on putting a few samples on the computer so that everyone can marvel at our abilities but we have to finish doing all of the copy right work first so you don't try to print it, sell it, and cheat us out of any of our money. If anyone would like to pay us the small amount of $20,000 to have a painting done we do landscape, portraits, animals, cars, sports, and basically anything else you can think of (minus nudity shots unless you throw in an extra $40,000 for corrupting us). There is also a one time fee of $900 to look at the pictures but don't worry, we accept Visa.
As for the other aspects of our lives, we are as tan as Mexicans now and are well on our way into the modeling department. We have our own personal catwalk we practice on 23 times a day and spend the rest of the time counting calories and looking in the mirror. Our diet now consists of celery, cranberry juice, and herbal tea. With only one bathroom it gets a little crowded but we worked that out a long time ago (see previous posts).
Being as well rounded as we are we also spend some of our time on the golf course. We don't go as often as we would like because we have hit too many of their rang balls to Dog Valley and they are running out and it makes them angry. That won't be a problem pretty soon though because when we get rich we will reimburse them. Our first meet is tomorrow and the coaches say if we only hit about 5% we will do awesome. Sometimes its not as easy as it sounds to control our strength so we will have to see how that goes. Other than that our lives are pretty much normal: eat, sleep, poop... repeat.

ZZZZZZZZZZ

Is sleep deprivation a disorder? Is that even a word? If it is I think I'm handicapped! I think I fell asleep in all of my classes today and I somehow don't remember getting from one classroom to the next. If I had any conversations with anyone today, I don't remember what I said or who it was with. I'm like a breathing walking zombie and I think I can sleep with my eyes open. Have you ever just sat and watched someone try to stay awake when they have the head-bobbing and the random jerking movements? Funny, right? Well. I have to stand up for those of us who are only good for your entertainment on those days. Sometimes you just can't help it! The head-bobbing is absolutely impossible to stop, unless you lay your head down, simple solution, but puts you at a higher risk of getting caught by the teacher and made fun of even more. As for the random jerking... by this point your brain is basically dead and your head feels like it weighs 50 pounds by itself, you have no control. Especially when the weird dreams start coming where your falling out of bed (a side effect of the head-bobbing). I just pray that today wasn't one of the days where they put off the lesson so that everyone could get their kicks out of an innocent kid who sat staring at the ceiling all night because the sand man was on vacation. I can't count the times that someone had to pull me out of a deep dark trance I was in because I was creeping them out by staring at them for extended amounts of time without blinking (I don't think its true but they also told me I was getting a little stream coming out of the corner of my mouth at the time which makes it worse-I don't even want to try and guess what they were probably thinking I was thinking... Oh dear!!!) What happened to the good old days when we always had oodles of sleep and energy gallor? Oh well. I better get used to it!! Here comes college!

Bits of inspiration

So not too long before Kevin and I were married I talked to a distant family member and the conversation left me very angry and upset. After walking me around the block and talking to me for awhile my mood had still not improved. I just wanted to be mad. I didn't care to work things out, I was right and that was all there was to it. My poor Kevin didn't know what to do. Finally when he could do nothing and say nothing that helped me feel better he said...."Your happiness affects me too, you know." Oh boy did that ever teach me a lesson! How selfish of me to only think of myself. Sometimes we get too caught up in the "ME" that we forget about those around us who mean the most to us. May we all try to be a little kinder to those we love... and to those we don't. ;) -Mandy

Wonderful Weekend

I kind of left on a sour note and haven't wrote since so I decided it was about time to update. We just got back from an awesome weekend in Hurricane for spring break. We went down to suprise Trina and it was pretty cool, although we still have to play "Pin the lips on Trina" some time because that is a fabulous picture of her. Easter was way awesome too! I got my very first Easter basket!! It was so cool, but on the way home we left the candy in the car and the candy bars and chocolate eggs melted so we had to leave them at Heidi's house but thats ok since I was already on the verge of a sugar coma. I also got some of my school stuff done which totally rocks!! I can't wait to be done with high school, I just don't want to be all grown up yet, I'm too young to be old. Well, thats about all I can think of to say right now so I'll have to write again later when I think of something good to write about.

Another Breakdown

I loved my job. I loved working with the people and meeting new people. I loved the (most of) the people I worked with and I loved what I did. Now however, everything I loved I don't get to do. Going to work wasn't something I despised and hated, I liked it. Until now. Now the very thought of work makes me cry and want to walk in front of the resturaunt with a sign yelling "DISCRIMINATION!!!" and some other unpleasant things I wouldn't say in front of my mother. I was talking to one of my co-workers today and she is one of the "priviledged" people who run the front of the resturaunt and steal all my hard earned money. Well, she told me that on Saturday when she worked she gave the 'expo' (the slave in the back) 30% of her tips that she owed them and it was only $19.00, so she gave them $20.00 to be nice. Well when she counted her left over tips she had $115.00!!!! Ya. She felt really bad because she knew she didn't earn that much so she gave the expo another $20, but still. Out of the $135 that the expo rightfully earned they only got $40. I'm not saying that wasn't very nice of the server but the system that we are using is ridiculous! And what makes me even more angry about the whole situation is that if she only owed the expo $19 out of everything she made, that means the people I worked with walked away making bank because one owed me $25 and one owed me $19. One of the other expo's turned in her two weeks notice after working once and I'm still trying to convince myself to stay so I can pay my bills. I am supposed to work tonight and I just want to quit on the spot and walk away. They can even keep their $18 dollars they owe me for the last three or four weeks of work.

Hey Y'all!

Hola Chicas!! I thought I would drop in a little note to say hello to my favorite friends. Today I'm feeling very spiritually stuffed (and physically starving cuz we haven't had dinner yet). Conference was great and I am proud to report I didn't sleep through any of it, except I did read through a little part on Saturday :s It was a really good book, if thats counts for anything. Well, as for the rest of this weekend, Sarah already told you that we didn't do much. We did go to Manti on Friday night so I guess that counts for something. Yesterday we just listened to conference. It was kind of funny though because me and Sarah had to go to the store and you could totally tell we'd been watching conference because it was about 3:00 and we were still in our pajamas with no make up and a hat on... Although I have to say we are a couple of beautiful chicks in our pj's :) (don't take that wrong, we are pure and innocent as can be!)
This week is spring break and I cannot wait!!! I don't know what we will do of course, but hopefully we can make it fun. I think I should go work out some of my school preparation stuff in Cedar but Mom and Dad are not supporters of that idea at all unfortunately. I don't know what they expect me to do when I have to leave permanantly for school, talk about seperation anxiety- but what can I say- I'm their favorite daughter of course they would want to be with me all the time!!! But anyhow, I ran out of things to say so, until next time!! I love you all!!

Dud Of A Day

So I've looked forward to this day for a couple weeks, a day off form school. However, it turned out to be a dud. Not only is it snowing, my Mom is sleeping, and Katie is reading, and I refuse to do my homework on my day off. So I have sat on the couch and eaten cinnamin bears and taffies and now I'm out of ideas. So here I sit bored to tears....alone....with nothing to do. I've waited all winter for Spring and now it's here, or suppose to be here. Yay I never thought it could be so thrilling. Why does it have to snow anyway? Can't it just rain a little here and there and we can skip the whole snow part of the deal. Oh if only! Well if you have any ideas to cure my depressing mood, anything will help. Just don't tell me to watch Twilight PLEASE!

Your long lost sister has returned!

My dear sisters I wanted to inform you that I am back from my vacation to love land and now complete with all my dreams coming true, i now have more time for you... Jk You know I love you even if I have been quite busy with stuff... Well what can I say? Married life is awesome, you should try it sometime...( in five or ten years- Kate and Sarah not now) Kevin and i are so happy! I couldn't imagine life being this good. Thanks for all your love and support! Love Mandy

What's wrong with this picture??.... EVERYTHING!!!

Here's the scoop. I have been working at Mickelson's for the past six or seven months for a meesley $2.13 an hour. I was already getting ripped off but at least I got tips right? Well get this. Now I'm getting $2.13 an hour, I do everyone else's sides, fill their orders, clean their tables, and do whatever else they can think of that no one likes to do, and the best part?? I only get 30% of the tips. Yep you heard me. They sit people down and tap their orders into this computer thing and I do the rest and they get the dough. What is wrong with those people's brains?!?! That is not right, and not fair! I have some serious issues with this issue and you better believe those people are going to get a piece of my mind that is usually reserved for me and me only. I don't see any sense in this situation at all and apparently I'm not the only one because when I was working the cook told me that even the people in front from the night before didn't think it was fair and didn't like it. If its the people who sit there why someone else does their work and then they get paid for it and they have a problem with it you know something is seriously wrong. So, as of now, I'm looking for work. If you have any suggestions and it pays over $2.13 an hour (preferably more) let me know, I'm willing to consider anything!

Food Projects

Well I have completed my food projects, even if some what unsuccesfully. Trina you make everything you do look so easy, and so i'm always like ok well this is a breeze for Trina so it can't be that hard for me. Think again Sarah, you're not the one and only Trina Baker Allred queen of anything she lays her hands on. It's mostly with cooking because that's as far as I've dared try in Trina's shadow.
So anyways I had to make something from Venezula for spanish which was due Monday (today) then I have these ham roles I have to make for English tomorrow. So Saturday night as I was carefully making my plan of action. I figured I would make my "venezulan" Guacamole (ahhhh hahahah he really fell for that one!) but anyways I would make that Sunday night and then make the ham role Monday night. So sunday night I'm cuttin up onions, tomatos, and alvicados and it's all great ya know. It was amazing, people in venezula sure have it made, my confidence way sky high. I was so excited, next day I take it to school, everyone loves it, and I could hardly keeps my teachers grimmy hands off of it. There was no question in his mind that it was venezulan guacamole and that's what the resipe said but it was the same as american guacamole pretty much some people just have higher guacamole making skills than others and can make it tast foreighn. It was awesome. So I get home and I start making the ham roles, but of course because Trina did it before me I screwed it up bad! First of all I couldn't get the stupid cream cheese to spread on the ham, so after a few angry pg words under my breath Katie picks up the container of cream cheese and she's like "Umm.... Sarah this is whipped cream." ya I know right rediculus. I was about ready to break the pickle jar, smear the cream cheese or should I say whipped cream all over someones face, and throw the ham at the wall, but fortanatley for me Katie can't read and my Mom can and we soon descovered that it was cream cheese. Ah yes cream cheese, never was I so happy to hear those two words in my life! So then after about 3 pieses of ham I realized that if you dry off the ham really good the cream cheese spreads out just a tad bit better. So I finally get the cream cheese on and I slap the pickle in there, role it up and I'm not even kidding that think was the size of a sprinkler pipe! It was HUGE! Someone obviously forgot to tell me that you have to cut the pickle to the perfect size! I just through one on there. So then I practiced a couple, I'm getting good, doin better right. Well as I go to reach for my next piece of ham, it's gone. So I was out of supplies, I had like 5 desent looking ham roles on the plate and I had drivers ed in 20 minutes. Perfect. I almost called Trina about 9 times but I refused to tell her that I failed.......again, but I guess she already knows, Mom probably called her and told her never to give me another idea like this again. So pretty much my family just laughed at me and I was getting emotional about the whole situation so i just set my things down and went to drivers ed. When I got home I was set on making them look good so I put every ounce of consintration I had into a piece of ham, a pickle, and a little cream cheese and one by one I completed my tast. Needless to say it does not look like Trina's, but some day Trin, some day.

The Joy of Being Young

With a week of remembering behind us, other memories were brought to our brains which we knew most people would not know about us, so we decided that the only way to really be our true friends you must know all our deepest darkest secrets, good and bad.
Backgroud:
We were the youngest of five girls, and the ring leaders of the group of five cousins. We put the "Awe" in Awesome. If there was ever a dumb idea, it mostly likely came from the combination of our unlimited imaginations. We were known, or somewhat not known, as The Cousinhood of the Invisible Cool Ones consisting of Lisa, Diana, Hannah, Katie, and Sarah. With this in mind, we begin our tale.
At the time when we were still unnoticed and unappreciated, we came up with great ideas that outsiders would consider.... retarded. You know the old statement that girls never go to the bathroom alone? We took this very literally. There was hardly ever a time that there was only one set of cheeks on the cold thrown at once. We were set on saving time, and one way to do that was to have as many of us as possible squeeze our little bottoms onto the toilet at the same time, therefore creating more time to play. Actually it was more like we all waited until the very last possible moment before our blatters exploded and couldn't wait to go one at a time. This wasn't a problem at all until we started getting our girlie figures and our hips began to grow. That is when we began making one specific memeber of the club take the tub (name has been left out for their own personal protection).
That leads us into the reason we couldn't wait. Each time we would find ourselves enjoying each others company once again, we would have what we like to call "tea parties" consisting of pull apart licorice, swedish fish, soda, and cute little cups (usually our own sippy cups purchased from the dollar store) when no one notices you, its easy to get away with things like this. At every tea party we could count on two things: one, a burping contest and the second... without fail, there would always be one of us (sometimes two or more) who would laugh so hard they became incapacitated and therefore lose all control of their bodily functions (mainly the blatter). In other words, yes. There was pee. It was everywhere. It stunk. Literally. End of discussion.
Not only did this problem occur at tea parties, there was also other times where laughter would overpower us and the river would begin. There was one particular moment that comes to mind. It was a cold day in Nephi, Utah where we were playing in the backyard (in Heralds backyard there were two big long logs that we played on and jumped off of during our many adventures) Lisa and I (Katie) were playing on said logs when we decided to make the two headed monster and share a coat since one of us didn't have one. As soon as we became one we started laughing and tried to jump off of the log. Well, being as brilliant as we were we some how messed up our counting and each jumped at different times and we fell on the ground rolling with laughter, but that wasn't the only thing we were rolling in. When we got up, trying to talk through our fits of laughing we both admited to the crime we had committed-we had once again lost control.
One of our favorite games to play was called Crow. Very deep, yes. The meaning of the word in this case is not the average black bird that eats Grandma's cabbage in the garden. Crow was a very mean, anger filled man (who I believe was an Indian and Sarah believes was just given a weird name at birth). Crow's brother was also a key player in our games but we regrettfully have forgotten his name at this time. Usually what happened was one of us was kidnapped by the angry men and was forced to marry them. When someone tried to save them, they married the brother. If we escaped, we somehow ended up at the horrible orphanage under the care of Miss Medlock, another evil woman of the world, (usually played by the skilled actress Katie because no one else could handle the pressure or remember the lines.) (That's what Katie thinks. She was Miss Medlock because the rest of us were to soft hearted to even pretend to be so mean to each other, but we knew Katie could handle it.) Anyway, childhood was amazing with the cousinhood of the invisible cool ones. There was never a dull moment and we formed an unbreakable bond and still share occasional tea parties just for memories sake, and nothing has changed if you get my drift. Now getting older, we plan to still stick together through the hard times and good times as the cousinhood continues, until next time my dear cousins, hasta la pasta!

Message from Mom

Dearest Children,
I just wanted to write and tell you how proud I am of all of you! (AND We really do look at Sarah's Report Card. It is sent to our e-mail address pretty often and in spite of what she thinks I do look at it. SO far I haven't had much to worry about any of you and your grades- No matter what they are, I know that you tried to be pretty conciencious. (spelling???)
At the wedding and after I have had a lot of people tell me what a good job we have done with our children and how wonderful they all think you are. I just smile and say "Heavenly Father sent me really special spirits because he knew that I didn't know how to handle the other kind"!
It is really true...........I appreciate so much your strengths and testimonies and your willingness to live the gospel.
I really have enjoyed Sarah and Katie and their friendship towards each other. They pretty well keep us laughing--I don't know what we would do without each of you--you are all special in your own ways, I love your visits and the grandchildren are wonderful! Have a great week. love mom

Plain Jane? Try complain Jane!

Now that life has settling down a bit, I now have countless hours to blog! If we subtract the school, drivers ed, chores, and oh yes I've taken up a new sport. GOLF! Of course these thing may seem important now but I'm sure as time goes on they will fade steadily into my long forgotten past, or should I say the past I'm trying so despratly to f0rget. Only because the last few weeks have been a nightmare and at the same time not a complete nightmare, there were the good moments too. For the past I will say this... Mandy's first wedding reception was a blast. My feet were a blazing ball of blisters and I resembled a pregnant squash in my dress but other than that it was GREAT! My Grandma Bakers funral was probably the sadest day my young life has ever experienced. I dehidrated myself through my tears, and couldn't get my lip to stop quivering long enough to drink anything. so I was life flighted to the hospital where some lunatic doctor person tryed to stick me with a massive piece of metal that they like to call an I.V. Of course I was no dummy and I took a drink of water, my energy returned and I escaped with no discusting holes in my tender flesh. ( not a true story, but definetly a good one) any ways I'm just glad to have everything behind me. You will also be glad to hear that I descovered a mountain taller than Mt. Everest this week. (Yes you can have my atagragh) This mountain is called "Sarah's HOMEWORK!" yes that's right. I've never wrote, typed or even imagined as much as I have in the past 24 hours because it's all due on monday and i'm not done yet. I still have to make two food dishes for two different classes and bring enough for the whole class. Hey I'm not the one who made it a law to feed the kids in schools. Although it was a great idea I never signed up on no lunch lady sheet, yet somehow I am the sorry soul who is feeding the whole school practicly. Who ever says you can't buy a grade, think again. I've spent my whole life savings trying to make all this exotic food all for a stupid A. What am I thinking? I just keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end, but somehow I doubt it. I'm not the kid who gets paid for their good grades, heck my parents don't even look at my report card. So somewhere out there, there had better be something that's worth all my hard work! Now you might be thinking that my life is just a little stressful, but don't worry as long as I can laugh i'm totally good, the only problem is I think people in Juab High have forgoten what that words means and so I just walk around with a smile on my face, laughing occationally while people stare at me with entertaining expressions, not knowing that their face is the cause for my uncontrolable laughter. I know it sounds cruel and so unlike me to laugh at someones face, but it's the only way I ever get to laugh so I do it despite the rudeness. Maybe some day my life will be happy again but for now all I can do is sign and take it one day at a time.
